Apocalypse Mom Rides Again ((for ancienttouched))

Except when crises loom, 99% of Furiosa's activity in the Nexus is related to trade. She's always interested in plants, medical advances, and technology that can be integrated with what they have back home. Of late, she's been looking for a way to reduce their reliance on guzzolene. Because sooner or later, Gastown will run dry (or maybe burn down if there are such things as vengeful gods), and they'll have to get by somehow.

Even this vital quest can't take up all her time, though, and after a particularly lucrative exchange one day, she finds herself wandering through the shopping district, peering at a consignment store window featuring toys and children's clothing from worlds across the multiverse.

The little ballet slippers designed for tentacles are strangely both cute and hilarious, and she lingers for longer than she normally would, speculating on the infant that might need such things.

Kippa had never been in a place like this. Everything was so clean and well-kept, and not a single poster extolling the dangers of Arcanics to be found. Strange that, in a place that seemed so overwhelmingly human. It meant she didn't linger long in the main plaza, instead all but darting down a side-street, fluffy tail clutched in both hands.

If she'd noticed Furiosa first, she'd have quickly skittered on, but the little fox girl's attention was caught by one of the displays in the window, ears perked as she edged in a bit closer, all but putting her nose to the glass to get a better look. She doubted she was allowed inside, and even then, proper shops with doors never seemed willing to barter. And she didn't need toys, not when she didn't even have proper shoes. Just the slightly scruffy blue tunic, too big on her as a shirt but just the right length to look more like a dress or robe. She'd have to hurry on soon, find somewhere warmer to rest, maybe some food-

But that didn't mean she couldn't look. Just for a minute.
